I thoroughly wash the potatoes that are to be baked. Then I poke 3 holes on each side of the potato, wrap each in a paper towel and place in microwave for 4-5 min. When they are soft enough, I take them out and place in the potato baker, turning them from side to side until they are brown and crispy and ready to eat. They come out great and in a very short time.
